i’m lost again!

Posted by justmylittleworld in school

I’m lost again! There wasn’t any direction written for Pediatric Center, and all I knew was it was at 2nd Floor. Finally, a nice lady with friendly smile from education department helped me to find Pediatric Center.

Working at Pediatric Center was a little bit different from the 4th Floor. It was kind of sad to leave the Floor because all these friendly nurses from there knew me very well in a short time , and I have recognized their patients, and I had a feeling of being comfort that I was fitted in this community. Moving to another place is like getting a new kind of nerve again like my first day.

Anyway, thanks to this nice lady from education department introduced me to nurses at Pediatric Center which was a good start for me. There wasn’t many works for today.Sitting and observing these busy nurses which I don’t haven any ideas what they are doing was kinda of boring at first.  Later, I got to hang out with nurses and  observe them closely in patients’ room which was a great opportunity given rarely .I hanged out mostly with Tina, a very sweet lady and youngest nurse in that center. She even let me to help her with measuring and recording temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate. We also did helping the patient’s walking around the center for exercise after surgery. They taught me a lot of things more than I should like I was in a nursing school.  I had a good time, and was grateful.

When I was heading to cafeteria, I found out people asking me if I was having a good time here. Then, I relaized that those people have helped me somehow in somewhere in here, and recognized me even though I didn’t remember them all. Well, it was really nice to getting know new people and working here.

my frist day of work

Posted by justmylittleworld in school

Since it was the first day of the work, I was a little bit nervous. I wore this blue shirt saying "we are here for help" that they gave us with long-pant(no jean:/)and put my name tag on the shirt. I had to be neat and clean. I kept reminding myself about all the rules, at the same time, try not to forget to greet people with a smile which is an important requirement in this place.

I worked at 4th Floor where actual work with nurses and patients is.  As a student, there wasn’t many thing much that I could do in this area. So, I started with filling water pitchers for patients. I had to go door to door and, asked them if they need to fill their ice or water. IF there was LAMP (stands for "look at me please") on the door, I checked them if they were doing alright. It was pretty simple, and easy so that I did very well and finished it in a short period with my fast walking speed.

My second job was placed at a counter where I had to answer phone calls. There were two phones, one is for nurses or somebody who works there, and the other is calls from patients room. I had to answer the patient’s calls, and wrote down their room number and their needs, then, tell nurses or people for the needs. To be  honest, it wasn’t easy. I couldn’t understand their(patient) voice on the phone , and did n’t get what they were saying for many times. For example, one woman needed a pain relief, and I overhearded it as a white shirt. (lol..that was silly) .

Thanks God..the day went well.

B-a-n-a-n-a

Living in two different cultures is kind of interesting, and  sometimes, it is funny to find out ways of satisfying the same basic needs in different methods.

Bana3

For example: How do you peel a banana?

This is the way I peel my banana like the pic from the top.  It is very simple. I take off the black top part, and open it from there.

Here is the way they peel their banana..

Bana2_1

They peel it from the stem where I call the bottom part. Banana

For them, this is how top and bottom parts are called. For me, they are totally opposite positions.

Don’t you think it is funny?

Jess is trying to chop the wood with this big axe!! Watch out..(:p)

His actual house! He lived in there!!

Lincoln

This is what is left from his original house in Indiana. There were eight people who lived in this house. I wonder how do they breath in such a small space?

Farm This is kind of like chicken-coop, where all the chickens live in this farm, and also, there are in some goats and  pigs. There is a garden at right side.

SNAP-SHOT

Mu

This is the memorial buliding in the park. I didn’t have a chance to take a good shot of this building. Anyway, I got a snap shot from the fornt part .

Orientation day

Posted by justmylittleworld in Uncategorized

I woke up this morning with these running nose, watering eyes and terrible headache.  And, guess what-today was Medical Center teen volunteer orientation which I couldn’t miss.

It was from 8:30 in the morning, and till 3:30 in the evening. Can you image how I was like, "dying" !! I couldn’t pay attention to speech or anything that they told us. I wished I was at home in every minute.  When they showed us around the Center, my brain was barely working of memorizing complex building’s structure. I don’t think I’ll remember next time when I come here.

There were only 17 people ( & luckily there was 1 guy from our school and we ate lunch together), and everybody seemed to be exciting except me who was annoying by the headache, and running nose.

I became a little bit OK by the time we did CPR. We practiced with these plastic dummies, and there was a lot laughs.

Little facts about “Teens”

Posted by justmylittleworld in doodle log

Most adults (or who thinks they are adults even though their maturity level is same as a toddler) would says they understand teenagers. It is not 100% right. You wouldn’t know how exactly feels like unless you wear the shoe. So, here are some things you should know about us:

  1. We do while we are sitting, standing, eating or even in the bed. Don’t get panic! It’s just "Texting".  We text 24 hours a day!! Yup..we do love "texting".
  2. We can’t live without our i-pods. We take it with us everywhere we go. Life without i-pod is BORING!
  3. The advantage of our youth is we got good teeth! That’s why gums is in our mouth all the time, and you always see a teenager chewing gums.
  4. We are nocturnal. We like to stay up late and get up late. Alarm-clocks never helps us anyway since we turn-off the alarm and get back to sleep.
  5. We are true blue lovers of the Internet. Believe it or not-it’s a new kind of Drug addiction.
  6. We do love our sneakers. We would wear them until it smells stink, and then put them under our bed where all our old-goodies stuffs go.
  7. We mess up a lot. Sometimes, we know we are doing wrong, but we just wanna have some fun. Anyway, we all (even adults) mess up and learn from our mistakes? right?
  8. We want to be accept by our peer group and the world. This is the main reason we do stupid things. Please understand us, and instead of scolding us, help us to be an individual who has a strong personality.
  9. The  very important thing- Never call us "kids". We don’t like being called "kids" because we already passed kid’s life. But, we don’t want to act like a serious, boring adult who thinks who knows everything. Well, remember!-that’s why we are called, "teenagers".

2007_making_history_choir_tour_038_1I worked with these amazing kids last week. They were kindergarten, and most of them were about six years old. They were sooo cute  & awesome. I had a great time spending the time with them.

My first favorite kid name was Jeremiah. He is only 3 years old, so cute and naughty. I didn’t had a chance to get his pic since he only came to the first day of the class.

2007_making_history_choir_tour_043_2 This is Rachel. Look at her cute smile! She is so friendly, cheerful, and talkative. One of the thing that made me sad was, " my mom left me when i was little kid. Dad and mom are separate", told me by her little voice, and holding my hand when we were making our way to outside. She is adorable!!

2007_making_history_choir_tour_047_1 Ethan(gosh..he is the smartest kid alive!!) & Miley !! Aren’t they cute?? I took this pic after we made these little hats.

2007_making_history_choir_tour_045_1 She like me a lot! She always asked me to sit beside her , stand by her, or jealous when other kids hugged me. (lol)

2007_making_history_choir_tour_036_3

This is Miely and Felica. They the smallest and the cutest girls in the group!!
